In a world where two door coupes are getting harder and harder to find at affordable prices, Hyundai has stepped forward to fill the gap. Yes, we are talking about the new Hyundai Genesis.
Now, you might think that the Genesis is just another “average” car, and that there is probably nothing really special under the hood of something that is so, shall we say, affordable. But I, along with those of you who either own a Genesis or have read more into it, beg to differ. You see, there is a lot more to this two door car than the low price tag, and you will find that, while affordable coupes might not be the funnest cars to drive by nature, this one definitely defies the odds.
The 3.8 liter V6 engine sported in this little spit-fire has bigger lungs and a much more advanced tech level than it’s 2.0 counterpart. It features Dual continuously variable valve timing and also a variable intake system. This gives the car engine a low-end torque, but also keeps the high end power alive as well. The 3.8 also has a larger intake and exhaust system, as well as an enlarged throttle body, for added power and get up.
So, what does all this add up to in the Genesis 3.8? Well, it means that for just a little bit more money, you get 306 HP at 6300 Rpm - which, for a coupe of this price, is nothing to scoff at. You also get 266 lb.-ft of torque at 4700, which is equally impressive for a car of it’s size. And with a 24 valve DOHC, complete with Dual CVVT, Genesis just might be spelling the comeback of the sporty Coupe at a price that anyone can afford.
