Every car fanatic has their own personal list of what they consider to be the best of the greatest sports cars to have ever been manufactured. And although today's technology has brought us some fantastic cars, some of the most highly regarded ones were produced many years ago.

The following is my personal top 10 sports car list.



1.  The Elise Series 2 from Lotus

If one of your reasons for buying a car is to show up your friends, the bells and whistles of this Lotus Elise will do the trick nicely. The design is aggressive and intimidating, which will definitely stand out above the rest. And if you like small cars, this Lotus performs great and has a small frame, which allows it to reach 60 miles in as little as 4.7 seconds. 



2.  The Porsche 911

When it comes down to superior design, performance, and overall quality, you know that Porsche is the bar raiser. And the Porsche 911 is arguably the best ever manufactured by Porsche. This is a sports car from front to back that was made specifically to race. It can reach 60 miles per hour in a nice 4 seconds flat.



3.  The Nissan Skyline

In Japan, the Nissan brand leads the pack in the car racing industry. And although its exterior look is slightly ho-hum, the design of its suspension lets it round corners in a snap. This sports car
also reaches 60 miles per hour in only 4 seconds.



4.  The DB4 GT Zagato by Aston Martin

This model Aston Martin is a classic choice. First introduced in 1960, it was immediately embraced by most car enthusiasts. The look of it screams vintage, especially with the hood's round shape.  And even though its performance is also of vintage quality, it is still an impressive car. In only 6 seconds, it can get up to 60 miles per hour. When it was considered new, there is no doubt it was the best. 



5.  The SLR McLaren by Mercedes Benz

This is a car meant to impress women. The two door design is considered sleek, aggressive, and impressive. Out of all automatic transmission cars in the world, the SLR McLaren is hands down the fastest. It will do 60mph in only 3.1 seconds.



6.  The Lamborghini Diablo

The name itself invokes intimidation. And it definetly fits right into the race car class with speeds that reach 60 miles per hour in about 4.1 seconds. But the name is not the only intimidation factor. So is the price.



7.  The Bugatti Veyron

If speed is what you are after, you are really going to love this sports car. Its maximum speed has been recorded at 60mph in an amazing 2.46 seconds, which is very close to the record set by Mercedes Benz.



8.  The AC Cobra 427

Mainly thanks to this car, the UK made the decision to set its speed limits on the roads. This is another fast car, reaching 60mph in almost 4.2 seconds.



9.  The Dodge Viper

This is one sports car that will steal the show. And it is one everybody is familiar with because it has been portrayed in countless movies and television programs. It only takes 4 seconds to reach 60mph. 



10.  The Porsche Carrera GT

This is yet another fantastic sports car made by the Porsche brand. Its fastest speed of 60mph in a respectable 3.9 seconds is great, but would you expect anything less of Porsche?
